What we learned while attending the largest industrial event in the world – Hannover Messe 2015.

1. Connectivity is King

Connectivity is reinventing our world and includes a broad range of devices, mobile platforms and sensors. As we move forward, consumer devices will connect with industrial systems, allowing workers to operate systems with existing user interfaces they’re already comfortable and more familiar with. Additionally, pioneering companies are also adopting a variety of mobile solutions for drive registration and tuning. ABB for example, has built advanced mobile solutions like DriveBase for registration and DriveTune for tuning.

2. The 3rd Industrial Revolution is happening right now

The automotive industry is moving away from combustion engines and towards electric motors. The industry is going through an enormous transformation, and we are truly seeing the beginning of an automotive revolution that starts with electric car solutions. This shift will have an enormous impact on the infrastructure needs necessary to accommodate electric cars, like charging stations and driving-related taxation.

3. Renewable Energy and Smart Grids – BIG developments in 2015

Renewable energy and smart grids will be big in 2015. We are living in a unique time when we will soon be able to produce our own electricity in our work and private lives. Technology is enabling companies and individuals to produce their own electricity, creating the opportunity for autonomous commercial opportunity and new business models for self-produced electricity for a variety of different industries.

4. Robots – Human Collaboration

Robot – human collaboration is finally here. Torque-censored, intelligent robots are able to combine the versatility of humans with the accuracy and stability of a robot to execute work tasks that are efficient and more consistent in quality. Intelligent robots are also enabling a new level of efficiency by intensifying quality human work load while simultaneously increasing safety.
