Symbio and Tamul Multimedia launch the first ultra-low-cost solution for Connected Car Display Audio market

San Jose, June 10th 2016

Symbio, an established leader in providing software engineering services in the automotive industry, is proud to announce the launch of Symbio’s Connected Car (SCC). The solution is targeted to the global ultra low-cost Display Audio market, supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Baidu Carlife. Symbio is collaborating with Tamul Multimedia, a Korean semiconductor vendor specializing in the automotive market, providing the low cost HW platform based on the ARM9 processor.

SCC combined with Tamul Multimedia ultra low-cost chipset, enables the expansion of Connected Car services to segments currently served only with simple FM radios. SCC brings voice recognition, navigation, online music streaming services, telephony integration and 3rd party application ecosystems, which were not earlier available to this specific segment. As of May 2016, the solution has already entered the market via the first automotive OEM’s.

SCC is designed from the ground up to be portable and optimize system resources. CPU and memory consumption are highly optimized, which enables the usage within ultra low-cost, resource limited HW platforms. To reduce integration cost and time to market, all supported technologies are available within single Application Programming Interface (API), SCC Unified API.

SCC combined with Tamul Multimedia ultra low-cost HW platform is available now and enables quick market entry for OEM and TIER1 companies willing to expand Connected Car services to mass market cars. Previously, these services were only available in higher price point vehicles.

SCC is available for multiple HW & OS configurations, freeing up valuable processing resources for other applications.

We are proud of delivering a unique solution to mass market, which now truly enables Connected Car services to all consumers and all car models. Collaboration with Tamul Multimedia has been very beneficial and together we are able to bring a compelling solution to the market,” Jacob Hsu, Symbio CEO

Symbio has been a great innovative co-creation partner for us. Together with Symbio, we made it possible to provide IVI solution at a reasonable cost to the conventional mid – low end car audio segment,” Dr. Y. Jhung, Tamul Multimedia CEO.
