Symbio to Acquire Business Operations of Cubical Solutions

Symbio, a next-generation outsourced product development company, has reportedly entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the business operations of Helsinki-based Cubical Solutions.

 

Cubical Solutions is an established software engineering service company for the telecommunications, financial services and manufacturing industries.

 

Symbio said it believes that this acquisition will add to its specialization in open source software utilization and product development. By acquiring Cubical Solutions, the company hopes to strengthen its expertise in critical domain areas that enable rapid technology convergence between IT and telecom.

 

Company officials said that the acquisition of Cubical adds “significant expertise” for Symbio in Linux and open source product development, leveraging operating environments such as Red Hat, SuSE, Maemo,Wind River ( News - Alert) Linux and OpenEmbedded Linux.

 

Additionally, the agreement also extends Symbio’s domain expertise across mobile, Web, enterprise and embedded technologies, said company officials.

 

“In continued efforts to differentiate Symbio as the leader in converging enterprise technologies, while meeting business demand for deeper domain expertise, we acquired Cubical for its success and engineering talent in Linux and open source product development,” said Jacob Hsu, CEO at Symbio.

 

He said that with this acquisition, the company furthers its strategy of delivering “innovation outsourcing” across all converging platforms, technologies, languages and geographies. In addition, the acquisition also strengthens the company’s proficiency across all Linux-based operating environments.

 

In September, Symbio Group, a Web and enterprise software outsourced product development company; Flander (News - Alert), a mobile and embedded software development company; and Ardites, an expert in user experience technologies, announced a definitive agreement to merge the three companies to create Symbio.
