Meet Symbio at the MeeGo Conference 2010, Dublin, Ireland
DATE: November 15-17, 2010LOCATION: Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
Meet Symbio at the first annual MeeGo Conference, hosted by Nokia and Intel. This conference will bring together MeeGo developers, OSVs, OEMs, and other MeeGo project contributors. Brian McGillion from Symbio will be speaking about the cost of security.
The cost of security, a developers view.
Security in many cases is an afterthought and rarely is much consideration given to the price that a developer has to pay in order to secure an application. The price, that this hands on demo will focus on, is the learning curve that must be overcome to generate a secure application and how using the 'MeeGo Security Framework' greatly reduces this overhead. This demo will take an existing Qt application that contains some common functionality and secure it using the intuitive API that is provided by MSF. Throughout the demo, the security will be built up layer by layer until at the end we have a more secure application that demonstrates the wealth of functionality that is available from MSF.
Topics covered:
- API
- Credentials - provide, request, checking
- Secure storage - for configurations and settings
- Encryption - private and shared
- Non-code related configration
- Building the package
- Installing and running the package
- Deploying the package
