Technology Demos
This in-vehicle infotainment demo illustrates how Symbio leverages its mobile and consumer electronics expertise in software integration and user interface (UI) implementation to provide lightweight high performance content creation tool chains to ensure the quality of the user experience and safety of in-vehicle infotainment systems. Symbio enables UI designers to prototype instrument visual design in an emulator environment and implement their UI/HMI (Human Machine Interface) to real target automotive platform supporting robust graphics acceleration.

The IM Horizon demo showcases how Symbio utilizes AMD’s UI Framework while running on top of OpenVG hardware. The demo depicts how vector-based graphics work seamlessly with multi-lingual exotic characters. AMD's UI Framework provides an excellent platform to rapidly develop high-quality user interfaces. This UI can also be touch screen.

This demo showcases a software–based 2D accelerator for embedded User Interfaces utilizing an ARM Neon CPU. Blitrix enables a rich GUI experience without costly investment in accelerated hardware. It offers a perfect fit for touch-screen phones, TV-UIs (up to 1080p), and any display menus on devices.
Blitrix provides real-time compilation by stitcher architecture with the following benefits:
- Speeds up blitting (bitmap rendering) operations
- Removes the need for hand-optimizing fast paths for specific use cases
- Enables smooth HW upgrades & variations
- Utilizes ARM Neon instruction set, such as an ARM Cortex platform
- Very fast - eliminates per pixel branching
- Nearly memory-bound on most platforms
- Tiny footprint (< 200 kB) and is easily extended and maintained
- Designed to efficiently handle and perform multiple operations in a single pass. It can generate highly optimized code-paths for operations such as taking a YUV video surface as input, rotating and scaling it to fit the screen, as well as perform the conversion to RGB, all in a single pass.
- Blitrix saves memory by avoiding the allocation of temporary buffers for the results of each individual operation. It also makes the operation faster by reducing unnecessary accesses to the temporary surfaces.

JokkMokk uses a graphics engine developed in-house by Symbio. The engine supports all the major 3D APIs (OpenGL, OpenGL ES, Direct3D). The engine is portable to different operating systems. The original development was carried out on top of Symbian and a Nokia N95 device for which the content has been optimized.

This demo is an OPENGL 2.0 ES demonstration targeted at near future mobile hardware. It has been built using the latest version of our Treed3D engine and on the Texas Instruments OMAP3 platform. It also runs on most OpenGL ES 2.0 platforms such as ARM Mali and Imagination SGX.
A Windows version uses SGX emulator for OpenGL ES API. This version was captured from the emulator software.
The Treed3D 2.0 demo was originally released at the Assembly 2008 Real Wild demo competition.

This innovative and interactive 3D User Interface demo was produced for ARM in co-operation with Symbio and Lapland Studio to demonstrate the performance and graphics quality of ARM’s CPU-GPU platforms.
The Virtual Table UI demo is based on Symbio’s OpenGL ES 2.0 engine implementation. The demo supports touch display and touch functionality and the content can be scaled to 1080p resolution.
The Virtual Table UI also supports effective and eye catching shading OpenGL ES 2.0 based effects such as shadows, lighting, and real looking materials like wood, metal, etc.
