Buying products and services with a long list of features is out. Today it's all about user experiences and we as consumers are being spoilt for choice. Before we even realize a new need, a market for it is already born. The boundaries and categories for traditional products and services as we are used to see them in our daily lives are vanishing.

We are now witnessing the penetration of mobile technologies into traditional industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, health care and banking to name a few. The sophisticated consumer wants to get by the daily routines easier and quicker, preferably online. The emergence of convergent products and services is making all this possible.

At the same time companies are struggling with the consequences of decreased demand, R & D budget cuts and increased technological complexity. In simple terms companies are challenged to have a greater bang for the buck and to focus their R & D efforts on developing those features sets that give the maximum user experience. Not to forget the need of concrete corporate responsibility and greener content.

New types of productivity gains are needed in order to bring companies, and on a larger scale, the world economy, back on track. The slack in the production processes of the industrial era reflects in many ways that of performance inefficiencies in the technology layers that companies are trying to get a grip of. Technology is one of the key enablers for improved productivity gains of our time.

These and other challenging topics and trends are discussed in-depth in this issue of Context Switch. We at Symbio have world-class knowledge and expertise to help our clients achieve improved excellence in usability issues and product and service performance. The answer - to be in front line to benefit from the eventual demise of Moore’s Law...Read More »
