Alexei Bluvsthtein

“I had been working several years as a test system designer and developer in a product development company. We were a small team of test system designers, each usually working on separate projects. I felt that I wanted to develop my skills, working with others within my area of expertise. Symbio is well known for their expertise, tools and training and that’s why I applied for work here.

I really enjoy working with committed and highly skilled professionals. My projects are challenging and my colleagues give me the support I need. I also have a lot of freedom to choose my own training.

My current project is a project at a customer site. I work in a team with both Symbio colleagues and customer personnel. I like the variety of projects I am involved in; short term projects include developing a system from requirements to delivery, and long term projects as a part of a larger team, at a customer site or at our Symbio site.

If you, like me, are passionate about system development with LabVIEW, I strongly recommend Symbio.”

“Symbio truly gave me the opportunity to grow from within. I have currently been with the company for over 2 and a half years; beginning as a business analyst, climbing to a product manager, and now currently a project manager. Symbio recognizes individuals who strive to perform with excellence and rewards those people appropriately. Thank you Symbio for helping me achieve many of my personal goals in my short time here.”

“During the years I've been with the company, I've done a whole lot of different things. One day I've been twiddling bits for a low-level software rasterizer, only to find myself traveling on a sales trip in Southern France on the next one. We've implemented OpenGL rasterizers and vector graphics UI frameworks and loads of other interesting pieces of software. Sometimes, I've been assigned to a foreign country as a one-man task force and at others, I've gently steered a multi-man-year project into the right direction.

Currently, I run the Mobile Embedded & Middleware Drivers Team at Symbio, in addition to contributing to and managing a variety of, mostly computer graphics related, projects. My daily tasks vary from line management to sales support to project management to brainstorming and design to planning to implementation (and by this, I mean coding!) to consulting to -- well, you get the point. At Symbio, transcending roles and responsibilities between different projects is very possible, if you're up for it. If not, well, striving to be an expert on a highly specialized field is not exactly frowned upon, either - on the contrary. This, in my opinion, is one of the coolest things about the company.

The multi-tasking approach seems to apply to my off-duty schedule as well. I try to divide my free time between exercising at the gym or otherwise, playing in various bands, photographing stuff and, well, just relaxing at home. Only recently, I got into scuba diving, and I now seem to spend an increasingly worrying amount of time planning the next trip to some distant edge of the world only to spend some time underwater.”

“After joining Symbio in September 2008, I’ve had the pleasure to work with top-level, mid-level, and project managers on various projects. Having started as a very junior level tester, these leaders gave me the proper guidance and leadership to help me grow into the experienced professional I am today. My opportunity here has allowed me to expand my knowledge in various testing tools and also help Symbio grow into a leading product development company of tomorrow’s technologies.”

“I knew Symbio and some people beforehand and some of my friends encouraged me to apply. I had been in a big company and seen how things work at smaller companies, so I wanted to be apart of a medium sized company, that was clearly moving forward even when the global economy was slowing down.

Before Symbio, I have worked for Nokia Networks, Nokia Research Center and Technical University of Tampere. In my previous positions I have mostly done QA related consulting and teaching. Lately I have widened my expertise to LabVIEW based test system, which we have made in Sweden and Finland. I have also written some research papers about information systems (ontologies and SOA).

My normal working day is to look projects from different angles and roles - i.e. architect, developer, tester, specialist, consultant, researcher, teacher. I have had very interesting projects, which have increased my competence and I have an opportunity to work with professional Symbio colleagues around the world. Symbio is an international company with local representatives and that means in practice challenging and changing work tasks.”
